Why do you need an eSIM QR code?

A QR code is the fastest way to install an eSIM. When you buy an eSIM plan, your provider sends you an activation string called an LPA. Converting this into a scannable QR code means you can activate your data plan by simply pointing your phone camera at the screen. Our free eSIM QR code generator works with any LPA, SM-DP+ address, and activation code, and it produces a high-resolution image you can download, print, or email.

How to generate and download your eSIM QR code

Paste your activation string or separate the SM-DP+ address and activation code, choose your preferred colors, and click generate. The tool instantly creates a carrier-grade QR code that phones can scan. You can use the download button to save the image as a PNG, which is great for sharing with family, keeping in your wallet, or including in travel documents. It is free, secure, and works entirely in your browser.

Tips for scanning your eSIM QR code correctly

Make sure the QR code is in focus, well-lit, and flat before scanning. On iPhone, open the Camera app and hold it over the code. On Android, use the built-in QR scanner or camera app. If the scan does not trigger, try moving the phone closer or further away, and ensure your device is connected to Wi-Fi. The QR code is single-use, so keep the original activation details as a backup.

eSIM QR code FAQ

Can I get a free eSIM with this QR code generator?

No. The generator turns activation details you already have (from your mobile carrier or eSIM provider) into a QR code. It can't create a mobile plan or data, and a QR code made from invented details won't install or connect. If you need data for a trip, travel eSIMs on eSIMLLY start from $1.50.

Do "free" or "fake" eSIM QR codes from the internet work?

No. Every eSIM QR code points to a profile that a carrier created on its SM-DP+ server for one customer. Codes shared online are already used, expired or invalid, and scanning a stranger's code can install a profile you don't control. Only scan QR codes from your own provider.

Where do I find my SM-DP+ address and activation code?

Your eSIM provider sends them after purchase, usually in the confirmation email or app under "manual installation". They often come as one LPA string that starts with LPA:1$. Paste that into the "I already have an LPA" tab, or enter the two parts separately.

Can I use the same eSIM QR code twice?

Usually not. Most eSIM profiles can be installed only once. If you delete the eSIM from your phone, you'll normally need a new QR code from your provider, so keep the profile installed until your plan ends.

Is it safe to enter my activation code here?

Yes. The QR code is generated in your browser and your activation details aren't sent to our servers. Still, treat the QR code like a password and only share it with the person who will install the eSIM.

How much does a travel eSIM cost?

It depends on the destination and how much data you need. eSIMLLY plans start from $1.50. Use the destination finder above to see the cheapest plan for your trip.
